Thrive Wearables create world changing health and wellness wearable technology products and  connected digital services. We are seeking a full or part time Software Developer intern (20-37h) for around three months with immediate start. The position would be to work on internal systems and potentially some client projects with a focus on Python, but with the opportunity to get involved with other areas as their confidence develops. Our intention is to consider a permanent role if the candidate is keen and wishes to progress with Thrive. We are super flexible and are a tight knit team of talented and passionate technologists, with a mission led support team. 


The Application Software Engineer will be focused on the development of innovative wearable products, with opportunities to work across the software development lifecycle, coding in C++ or Java, along with taking on some firmware development (Embedded C).  Other responsibilities will include analysis of customer needs and recommending appropriate solutions, software documentation, and testing.

Essential Skills

The candidate will have a strong degree in engineering or the physical sciences and be able to demonstrate a high level of application software development, with an emphasis on C++.  The candidate may be able to prove their suitability for the role by demonstrating prior experience from their previous work experience or their degree.

  • A strong educational background with a 2.1 or above in Computer Science, along with strong A levels results, in particular Maths and Physics.

  • Academic, research, or commercial experience developing application software in C++

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Team Player with good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Technical problem solving

  • An understanding of embedded software / firmware development would be advantageous
