With thousands of students and plenty of events and campaigns going on here at Sussex Students' Union, we work hard to ensure our members know what the Students’ Union does and how they can get involved. We’re looking for a Communications and Marketing Manager to help us reach even more students.
The Students’ Union is a random place sometimes and our marketing and communications work definitely reflects this. We switch from advising on how to get students to volunteer with us to designing cute tampon characters as part of our project to give out free sanitary products. In the same day, you might also contribute to the development of a video about the cost of living in Brighton then round it off by checking on our latest sponsorship deals and how we can make the most of those.
We’re looking for someone to bring their communication skills and marketing ideas to our team and share that knowledge and experience with the wider organisation as we continue to drive student engagement.

A day in the life of a Communications and Marketing Manager:
Working in conjunction with the rest of the team, you will advise Union staff and officers on how best to communicate their messages to students. You’ll oversee our design and content work for print and digital channels and assist others to deliver their own marketing projects, whilst designing and delivering a central marketing campaign for all services.
We are a small, friendly team made up of permanent and student staff and work across graphic design, content creation, website and sponsorship. The team works with all other departments across the organisation to lead or support on various campaigns and events.

Responsible for: Design, Content, Web, and Sponsorship teams
Salary: £30,620-£32,475 full-time equivalent pro rata. It is normal to be appointed at the first point on the pay scale but this is open to negotiation in certain circumstances. In August we normally review salaries with respect to the cost of living.
Hours of work: Up to full-time (36.5 hours per week). Part-time hours are considered for people with care commitments or as reasonable adjustments but will more than likely be flexible to include some evenings and weekend work during term time.
Location: Falmer House, University of Sussex, BN1 9QF. However we are supportive of hybrid working with staff expected to work a minimum of 50% of their hours from the office, unless otherwise agreed with their line manager.
