Content Editor and Project Manager – HIV and sexual health

"Our vision is a world with no new HIV infections, and where those living with HIV and AIDS do so with equality and the support they need."

Are you an experienced Content Editor and Project Manager looking to use your skills to develop exciting, impactful digital content products for social change?

Avert has been a charity at the forefront of the HIV response since 1986. By sharing knowledge, we empower people to protect themselves and others from infection, reduce stigma and improve HIV and sexual health programmes globally. Last year Avert reached over 20 million people through our portfolio of digital websites, apps and our social media channels and campaigns.

This year we launched Be in the KNOW, a new website and social brand targeted at our key audiences in east and southern Africa. Our information hub for community health workers in Southern Africa, Boost, is reaching tens of thousands of community health workers and peer educators. We are constantly seeking out new partnerships to increase the positive impact we can have on the HIV response.

With a passion for creative communications and making information available to bring about health-related behaviour and social change, you will be responsible for project managing new content products and projects. You will also be responsible for planning, creating, editing and publishing a range of written and multimedia content, in line with Avert’s goals, content strategy, tone of voice and style guidelines.

You will have good communication and interpersonal skills to manage a range of relationships with project partners, stakeholders and suppliers, many based in the Southern African region. You will adopt user centred design approaches to ensure that content is relevant and engaging, and that our work with external designers and developers creates infographics, images, audio and video content that give our messages impact.

You will also support our knowledge sharing and knowledge management tools and processes, the monitoring and evaluation of our projects, and feed into project reporting, organisational learning, and wider engagement with the HIV/digital health sector.

You will have:

  • a track record project managing content projects and partnerships, delivering on time and on budget.
  • experience managing relationships with partners, stakeholders and suppliers
  • excellent writing and editing skills, with an understanding of the special requirements of writing and developing accessible and creative content for the web and mobile
  • experience working with external developers and agencies to develop successful ideas for creative multimedia content
  • have an understanding of user centred design approaches
  • have an interest in HIV and sexual health and health-related behaviour change.
