About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Back End Developer to help us grow and meet the demand of a constantly evolving service. You will be intimately involved in the replatforming of our solution using microservices and a SOA to provide a true SAAS solution to our customers. 

Your experience will help design and define our development and you will be central to the future development of our product offering. 

You will be involved in technical designs, core code development, technical documentation, completion of your own sprint work and maintaining the product quality. 

You will be also involved in describing the technical requirements in Jira tickets, estimations of tickets and participating in the Scrum process. You will also help ensure all features and implementation are done to the coding standards we aim for at 15gifts. 

You’ll be responsible for

  • Building new implementations of the decision engine and new features across different clients, platforms, and continents
  • Working closely with the UX & development teams to develop external product optimisations and internal tooling
  • Participate, lead and contribute to scrum processes and back end meetings
  • Maintaining and improving the existing back end codebase
  • Review and provide feedback on your team’s code changes
  • Creating and maintaining back end documentation
  • Proposing and building new features for the platform
  • Inputting into development tools and best practices
  • Mentoring our junior and mid level team developers
  • Helping to deliver projects including estimations, architecture and best practices
  • Providing technical knowledge in client facing meetings where relevant
  • Completing assigned tasks to time and quality standards
  • Ensuring all features meet and adhere to Quality Assurance processes
  • Ensuring code quality standards are followed
  • Adhering to relevant security policy
  • Creating and maintaining documentation
  • Self improvement
  • Participating and contributing to Scrum processes and meetings (ie Sprint planning, Updating ticket statuses, effort estimations)

Skills and experience 


  • Excellent Knowledge of Typescript and/or Javascript
  • Knowledge and experience in using and working with Node
  • Knowledge and experience in using and working with AWS
  • Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) or Virtual Environments (Vagrant)
  • 8+ years of development experience 
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or similar
  • Experience in implementing solutions for Backend micro service SaaS solutions
  • Experience in communicating with and working within multi-disciplined teams
  • Experience with Version control systems such as GitHub. 
  • A self-starter can do attitude
  • Ability to assimilate and acclimate to new technologies & Languages
  • Knowledge of and appreciation of code quality standards and best practices
  • Unit tests & Code coverage
