Portal Studio, a rapidly growing marketing and creative agency specialising in the games industry, has a vacancy for a games-loving Senior Digital Graphic Designer.
This is a rare opportunity to join a close-knit, highly collaborative team producing beautifully engaging advertising and branding for the world’s most recognisable publishers and developers. Working alongside our Creative Director, you’ll play a key role in bringing our award-winning clients’ games to the attention of global gaming audiences.
Salary
£30,000 - £40,000 based on experience + Pension + Company Bonus Scheme.
Who are we?
Portal Studio was established in 2019 in Horsham, a market town well-known for games that’s nestled between the industry hubs of London, Guildford and Brighton.
Our approach to work focuses on attention to detail and a mastery of the fundamentals. We’re also big believers in communication and collaboration. If this sounds like you, you’ll thrive here.
Requirements / experience
We’re looking for someone with 4-6 years of agency experience in a similar role, ideally in digital-based design. You’ll be self-motivated with the ability to lead projects and have the confidence to communicate regularly with clients. Building and maintaining these relationships are key in this position, along with the ability to take creative direction.
We’re keen to see portfolios that showcase a wide range of projects, particularly digital campaigns. We want to be wowed by your design skills and see excellent examples of branding work, typography, layout, colour and composition. You’ll need to be superb at Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator. Good knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Premiere Pro would be an advantage.
We really want to see a strong understanding of the fundamentals of design including digital technologies and formats, aspect ratios, file formats and specs for the web and beyond.
We work with some of the biggest names in the industry so a love for games would go a long way.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day you will:
-
Produce bespoke creative material for a wide range of projects and clients
-
Manage and deliver multiple projects at the same time with ownership of your own deadlines
-
Demonstrate your excellent file structuring skills including versioning, localisation and rendering out
-
Liaise with clients and work independently or collaboratively with our Lead Designer as required
-
Collaborate with the video team, creating assets for them to use within the trailers and videos being produced
-
Artwork projects to completion, delivering a suite of re-sized artwork for campaigns to deadline. Or oversee and manage this process with other design team members
-
Follow brand guidelines or pre-approved design styles with high attention to detail
-
Process briefs and requirements from managers and clients
-
Keep up to date with industry trends and use that knowledge to improve our processes
-
Take responsibility for quality control of all media and materials - we are known for our top-tier production standards
A typical day in the life of a Portal Senior Designer:
You start the day by producing an engaging marketing campaign for the launch phase of a client’s new game that has the whole gaming community talking. You then take your approved designs and deliver a suite of impeccably produced adverts across a range of formats, preparing them for your colleague to animate.
After lunch you brief a colleague on a new project before beginning a concept presentation for a logo design for an upcoming MMO.
You do all this in collaboration with your colleagues while enjoying the responsibility of managing your projects from start to finish.
