Job Description:

This is an exciting role for someone passionate about communications and martketing. 

Overview of main duties: 

• Provide comms support to the organisation and project teams.
• Define the scope of each comms project and create detailed work plans. Determine the resources required.
• In collaboration with the wider comms team, determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated if appropriate.
• Copywrite content for leaflets/websites etc.
• Arrange and attend team, agency, partner and management meetings as required.
• Co-ordinate pro-bono and other support.
• Brief, supervise and support any freelancers or external agency staff allocated to the project.
• Provide quality control for marketing and comms outputs – act as brand guardian.
• Utilise existing project management systems and tools, ensuring project information is appropriately documented and secured.
• Monitor and evaluate project progress, adapting as necessary, using iterative processes.
• Assist is writing reports for management/trustees and partners.
• Act as the liaison between the comms team and the wider charity team.
• Ensure that deliverables are on time and within budget.
• Protect, promote and enhance the reputation of National Numeracy as the ‘first port of call’ for other organisations for all matters relating to numeracy within the UK.
National Numeracy retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position as required.

Skills Range:

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Degree-level education or equivalent in experience
• Proven skills in a broad range of software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation.
• Knowledge/experience in a variety of project management tools and techniques eg: comms plans, status sheets, Gantt charts, quality control.
• Excellent copywriting skills.
• Excellent verbal interpersonal/communication skills.

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Degree-level education.
• Experience of setting up new project systems and tools.
• Knowledge of graphics software.
• Experience in a communications/marketing role.

• Good at detail, spotting mistakes, anticipating problems and finding alternative solutions.
• Able to be self-motivated, pro-active and flexible, both independently and as part of a team.
• A creative thinker keen to use your initiative to support the overall aims of the organisation.
• Good at managing your time.
• Resilient and prepared to see tasks through to finish.
• Numerate and able to identify with the importance of numeracy and the aims of the organisation.

Salary: £19,000 - £20,000
Attendance: Full-Time

    National Numeracy is based in Lewes, East Sussex but works with a national remit. There may be some UK travel associated with this post.
