Launched in 2009, BrightLocal is a SaaS platform providing a suite of local marketing reporting and tools to over 6,000 customers. Our customers range from small-to-medium-sized businesses and SEO agencies to large enterprises such as Paddy Power, Ikea and Wagamama.

We have a highly respected brand in the SEO industry. Beyond our industry-leading products, we’re known for our authoritative research and webinars. Our research is regularly picked up by mainstream media, including the Guardian and the Wall Street Journal.

We employ 120 people across 4 countries — UK, USA, Ukraine and the Philippines. Brighton is our HQ and our global management hub, comprising of Marketing, Customer Success, Sales, Product, and Operations.

Last year we grew the company by nearly 30%. We have ambitious growth targets for 2019, and this role will be crucial to help us achieve our goals.

Job Description:

 

This is an expanded role in our fast-growing digital marketing team. We are looking for a versatile, skilled and enthusiastic marketer to help increase community engagement with our brand and content.

BrightLocal is a marketing-driven business with 90% of leads coming through inbound marketing. Effective marketing is essential to our growth and this role is integral to our continued success and expansion. We are well-known for our ability to communicate important industry news in a timely and insightful fashion, alongside our established research pieces and educational content.

The local SEO community is rife with conversation, opinions, and knowledge sharing and we want to be part of it. How you do this is totally up to you. In this role, you'll take full ownership of driving engagement with our community, which includes customers, local SEO professionals, and industry influencers.

You won't just be tasked with promoting BrightLocal's products and our content. You'll be ready to jump into discussions on industry forums to add value and provide SEO expertise. If you don't know the answers yourself, you'll tap into expertise across the business to help craft a response.

You will know your social channels inside-out and have experience using social media to help amplify marketing content and campaigns.

You'll play a key part in creating our content, too, supporting the team to help write content that delights our customers and widens our audience. You will also help to source, proofread and publish content from the expert contributors within the local search community, and use their insights to create articles reacting to industry news.

Above all else, it's vital that you're proactive and are ready to become a recognised face of our business within the thriving local search community.

 

Roles and Responsibility

Social Media and Community

  • Social media management: responsible for scheduling posts across BrightLocal’s social media profiles and proactively engaging with the community.
  • Monitoring brand mentions on social media and forums, and representing BrightLocal thoughtfully and creatively.
  • Devising and implementing ad hoc social media campaigns to support webinars and product launches (including helping to manage paid social activity).
  • Managing review generation across applicable channels, and working with the Customer Success and Business Development teams to help manage our case study and testimonial pipeline.
  • Amplifying our content and campaigns through social media and finding creative formats to help drive engagement.
  • Increasing brand awareness and visibility by posting on and conversing with members of various SEO groups and forums.
  • Monitoring industry news and helping us jump on opportunities to create fresh news content or add value to conversations.


Content

  • Producing short-form blog content in response to big news events, with a quick turnaround.
  • Proofreading, editing and uploading guest contributions in line with BrightLocal’s editorial guidelines and tone of voice, with a view to taking on the management of guest bloggers over time.
  • Identifying opportunities for BrightLocal to guest blog on external sites, and reaching out to online publications for links to relevant BrightLocal content.
  • Finding new ways to generate exceptional and insightful content through our contacts with BrightLocal customers, influencers and the wider local search community.
  • Using standard SEO processes to optimise new content for relevant keywords, and optimising published content when required.

 

 
Skills Range:

 

  • 2+ years’ community management and/or social media marketing within a business or digital marketing agency
  • Proven, exceptional writing skills
  • Expert communication skills (online and offline, internally and externally)
  • An ability to research and create reactive content quickly and confidently
  • An ability to prioritise and organise around deadlines and business needs
  • An interest in and broad knowledge of digital marketing
  • An understanding of the fundamentals of SEO
  • Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within a high-output marketing team
  • Experience using social media management tools
  • An ability to report on social media KPIs with Google Analytics or social media analytics
