Job Description:

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PHP Developer to join a rapidly growing creative software and technology company in Sussex.

 

We are seeking a talented PHP developer to develop and administer our in-house databases and websites. The 7thSense admin database is a business-critical asset used daily by 20+ US & UK staff to run the company and as the main developer of this system, you will take input from many staff in all areas of the business in order to further add capability & streamline in-house processes. In addition, there is a customer facing portal and public website (WordPress based), which you will work with key stakeholders, marketing & technical author to support and develop.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

• Work with the Senior Management Team to capture & prioritise development tasks and identify new requirements.
• Design and deploy data table structures, forms, reports, and queries.
• Administer and update existing database functionality.
• Solve database usage issues and malfunctions
• Plan and coordinate migrations between systems.
• Migration of pages/code up to current standards
• Facilitate closer integration between systems
• Develop an emergency plan / backup database.
• Research, recommend and evaluate new technology to help the future scalability of our systems

 
Person Specification:

 

Essential:

 

• 3+ years of direct PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap and AJAX development experience, working on both front & back end, with database schema creation & implementation.
• In-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)
• Proven ability to translate end user requirements into system functionality

 

Desirable:

 

• General Windows IT administration (Win7, Win10, Server 2012)
• Experience of WordPress and Cloud web services (Azure or Amazon), Node.js.
• Knowledge of typical company operational concepts such as Works Orders, Enquiries, Stock Control, Parts & Assemblies.
• BSc degree in Computer Science or relevant field
