Full Stack Developer - Onhand

Brighton / London

Closing date: 09/09/2019

Job Description:

Full Stack Mobile App Developer

Fantastic opportunity for someone wanting to take the lead for a fast growing Tech for Good start-up.

onHand is a marketplace app that allows people to give and get help, whenever and wherever they are. It’s enabled “on-demand volunteering” and with over 1500 app downloads within weeks, this is an exciting moment to join us. Our focus is using the app to match volunteers with older adults who need help with basic tasks. Things like shopping, tech lessons, help around the house or simply sharing a cup of tea and having a chat. In doing so, we believe onHand can help address the growing care crisis facing our ageing population and maybe just leave the world a better place too.

As our first dev hire, you will be at the heart of how we use Tech to engage, onboard and match members of our marketplace community. If we are successful, we expect to grow very quickly, expanding across the UK and then internationally. The scope for personal and professional growth for any team member joining us at this stage should be tremendous.

What we’re looking for

We're a 2018 graduate of Facebook's LDN_LABs Accelerator programme (others include Olio and Goodgym) and, whilst the service has only been live since the start of this year, demand is far outpacing our expectations. Our App is live and performing robustly, but it is v1: given the demand we seeing, now is the right moment to invest in technology to enable scale.

We are looking for a software engineer with proven technical and analytical capabilities. Someone who can balance designing and creating robust, scalable and well-tested code. You will be a key member of the team, responsible for the design and development of innovative mobile app experiences and software solutions. You need to be dynamic, collaborative and curious, as you’ll work in a fast-paced environment where continuous experimentation and innovation are expected.

Your responsibilities will also include:

Collaboration and product planning with the founder and wider team
Design, development, and testing of mobile applications and/or services
Using agile methodologies to deliver high quality solutions on time
Working with operations teams to ensure applications and services are highly available, reliable and on-point for our users
Supporting applications and/or services as and when required

NOTE: You can apply even if your experience and interests aren't an exact match with what we've laid out in this job description. We are building something different at onHand and if this sounds interesting, we want to hear from you. We'll really value front-end mobile application experience and a curious, problem-solving mindset that wants to grow with us.
