Job Description:

Role Purpose:

To lead in designing and building high-quality web and mobile applications and being responsible for developing high quality, well written, easily maintainable code.

What the role involves:

  • Coding - To ensure in a timely manner the production of high quality, tested code that is in line with Mind Tools coding practices.
  • Design and Planning - To design and plan code that best suits requirements whilst working to scrum methodologies.
  • Contribution to Scrum Framework - To adopt and maintain a scrum style of thinking and actively participate in all scrum events.
  • Digital Development - Understanding of the part each developer plays and how it contributes to the end product.
  • Team Leader - As an influential and positive role model you will mentor developers providing guidance, motivation and support. Leading by example in working creatively and flexibly, steering the workflow whilst focusing on the bigger picture.
  • Collaborative Working - To work closely with key stakeholders on joint developments and strategies as required. To work honestly, respectfully and supportively with the Senior Development Manager to drive forward the team’s objectives.
 
Skills Range:

Who we’re looking for:

  • We’re looking for a full stack developer, so experience of PHP, Mysql, Javascript and CSS are essential. We are in the process of migrating to AWS so experience with their services would be beneficial.
  • Experience of Jenkins, Infrastructure as Code would also be beneficial.
  • We’re open to candidate with the right skills but a range of experience level, from those earlier in their career to those more highly experienced.

Knowledge:

  • Ability to provide user-centric solutions which users find simple and intuitive to use.
  • Ability to design and build solutions which work across a range of devices including smartphones, tablets and laptops.
  • Ability to challenge and test traditionally held views about web development, contributing suggestions for continual improvement with the Development team.
  • Experience of web development and project-based work within a commercial environment.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in full of full stack (php) development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience of designing, building and delivering working solutions which meet customer needs.
  • Attention to detail whilst also demonstrating the ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Knowledge of Agile and/or PRINCE2 project management techniques.

Salary: £35,000 - £55,000 + Benefits
