Job Description:

Office Manager Duties

  • HR – Managing the online HR system for the company. Maintaining the personnel files and employee paperwork.
  • Stationery and office supplies – Purchasing making sure the office is always fully stocked with all consumables.
  • Answering the phones and directing enquiries.
  • Health and Safety – Managing Health & Safety compliance through our H & S management system
  • Expenses – Handling expenses for the office including the credit card statements for all company card holders, and petty cash.

Panel Management

  • Liaising with panel providers (such as Toluna) to source people to take part in our online tests
  • Cost saving – Keeping costs low where possible. Negotiating for better rates whilst maintaining quality.
Skills Range:


  • A degree is desirable but not essential
  • A professional, confident, personable, articulate manner. You need to be highly organised, proactive and efficient .
  • Excellent administration and time management skills to maintain workload and paperwork and strong attention to detail is essential.
  • A high level of numeracy with excellent computer literacy
  • Previous experience of working in administration environments, ideally as a PA or office manager.

Desirable (some or all of these):

  • Knowledge / experience of psychology or market research
  • Experience in health and safety management
Person Specification:

You must have the ability to think on your feet and problem solve under pressure to ensure all deadlines are met.

This is a full time role based at the Sussex Innovation Centre on campus at the University of Sussex, in Falmer, Brighton and will be normal working hours Mon-Fri only although we may be able to accommodate a different working pattern or fewer working hours based on your circumstances.
