The Unit is a strategy, design and technology company based in central Brighton. We work on exciting and innovative projects, from Internet of Things prototypes to substantial digital change programmes. Our clients include household names in international finance, global energy and bespoke travel.

2018 is an exciting year for The Unit. We recently opened a new office in central Soho; we’re growing and we want you to grow with us.

Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Agile Project Manager to join our fast-paced Brighton studio. As part of a multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for the successful management and delivery of large scale digital projects, ensuring high quality output, on time and on budget.

The role extends beyond day-to-day project activities; as a Senior Project Manager you are expected to be commercially aware; to contribute to company growth and drive change, helping to shape internal processes and client deliverables.

The role is client facing with a significant element of account management; so you will be skilled at building strong, collaborative relationships with customers. You will also actively identify future needs that clients may not recognise and ensure solutions are linked to long term objectives.

As Senior Project Manager you are required to have strong interpersonal skills, and to share knowledge and expertise with your team. You will also support other Project Managers through mentoring and possibly line management.

Key role responsibilities:

  • To ensure the successful and smooth initiation, management and delivery of projects, through strong leadership and Agile best practice
  • To plan and run engaging client meetings, sprint reviews, daily stand-ups, sprint planning and retrospective sessions
  • To produce Statements of Work and other project documentation of a consistently high standard
  • To oversee multidisciplinary teams and work with discipline leads, structuring projects and devising efficient processes
  • To manage budget, risk and resources and report on multiple projects and accounts, working closely with senior management, stakeholders and Directors
  • To ensure all projects comply with legal requirements, client policies and procedures
  • To proactively inform Business Development of new commercial opportunities that arise from existing clients and prospects
  • To contribute to and coordinate proposal development, and participate in pitches
  • To actively build and maintain strong long-term relationships with clients through effective account management

Skills Range:

  • Excellent project management knowledge, including a thorough understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to adapt to fit each client / project requirement
  • Experience of working with all digital disciplines (Development, UX, UI, Testing)
  • Exceptional client management skills and gravitas.
  • The ability to motivate a team to deliver high-quality work, and to create a culture of creativity and innovation within the team and with our clients
  • A sharp eye for detail and the ability to plan and execute clear strategies in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic awareness and the ability to streamline processes
  • Confidence in decision making, and a readiness for new challenges
  • Exceptional organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to meet client and project deadlines and remain calm under pressure

Person Specification:

You’ll be a brilliant all round communicator with a dedicated, proactive approach. You’ll value your personal development, so we’ll provide you with an annual training budget to spend on what really interests you and helps you to flourish.

A creative thinker with a strong work ethic, you’ll share our positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning. You’ll take part in regular Innovation Days and knowledge sharing sessions, so we really get to know what you're passionate about. You’ll also get the chance to take these ideas to the next level with leading-edge projects and new technology.

There are no lone wolves in our pack; we’re looking for a team player who can build rapport quickly. You’ll be working collaboratively with talented, creative colleagues and interesting clients who we see as partners, not just customers.

We’re a friendly bunch and love getting out and about. Whether it’s beer Friday, birthdays, bouldering, bingo or one of our legendary company jollies, you’ll get to know everyone really quickly (over sharing is something we’re working on).
