Over the last three years we have been working closely with the current generation of commercial and consumer-ready VR and AR hardware.

The founders of our company come from military simulation, triple-A gaming and web development backgrounds, and our leadership team has strong established relationships with a range of specialist partners in hardware and software development including Oculus, HTC Vive, Sony and Unity as well as partner studios specialising in film and 3D modelling.

Job Description:

As a growing and exciting business, we have created a dedicated team, The Drawing Board, for R&D experiments, creating demonstrators and concepts, exploring new IP and products and maximising ad-hoc opportunities with emerging immersive technologies as they arise at short notice (which is often!).

Reporting to the Director of Immersive Technologies, The Drawing Board is responsible for pushing immersive technologies and the studio offerings beyond the everyday whilst being commercially aware to drive viable alternative revenue streams into the studio.

We are looking for a curious designer who is looking to be able to explore, play with and break concepts and ideas, whilst being prepared to throw all their preconceptions out the window. Working with a small existing team of developers and creatives, the successful candidate would be expected to form an integral part of Make Real’s future vision, helping deliver ideas through to deployment.

 
Skills Range:
  • 3+ years’ experience either designing games and/or interactive experiences
  • Proficient in using game editing software such as Unity, Unreal
  • Deep understanding of user interactions, design theories and practices
  • Hands on designer, rapid prototyping with a strong body of work demonstrating your expertise in designing 3D experiences
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity to complex product features
  • Contribute to design guidelines, best practices and standards
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Collaborate with and lead the core R&D team to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
  • Able to work closely with clients, understand their requirements, conceptualise, design and deliver an exceptional product
  • Passionate about engaging end users through new innovative technologies and user experiences
  • Basic 3D modelling a bonus
  • Passionate about VR/AR immersive technologies, with previous history of designing in AR/VR a bonus

  • A passion to develop new innovative solutions for emerging hardware technologies
  • Ability to lead a team and achieve buy-in for your ideas and visions
  • Strong written/verbal communication and facilitation skills
  • Confident, creative, conscientious with a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to propose ideas
  • Versatile and quick thinking with an inquisitive mind
  • Ability to iterate upon an idea and not afraid to fail
  • A commercial mindset
  • Self-motivated
