The Digital Roundup
Congratulations to Liquid Light who have been awarded ‘Best in Class’ at the IMA Awards for a new website built for The Barbican. The pair met earlier this year at the Wired Sussex Interface event, where we connected 32 of our member companies with 10 of the UK’s biggest cultural brands.
It seems our members swept up at this year’s Brighton and Hove Business awards ceremony, with Plug-In Media winning the Creative Industry Award, The Student Room Group taking ‘The Fastest Growing Business Award’ and Nikki Gatenby from Propellernet was crowned ‘MD of the Year’.
Exciting news from our members Endless and Brilliant Noise who’ve teamed up for the new Nokia campaign: ‘Design Your Day’
Finally, a happy birthday to our members Cohub! The community coworking space in Eastbourne who’ve just celebrated the end of their first year by relocating to a bigger venue….

….. remember if you’ve got any news you’d like us to shout about then just drop us an email for inclusion in our next newsletter.

Members' Meetup, 20th August, from 5.30pm at Above Audio.
Our next member’s meetup is happening on the 20th August. If you've not attended before, our meetups offer a great opportunity to network with others working in the creative, digital, media and technology (CDIT) sector, from all across Sussex.
We’re really excited to already have over 70 employees of Wired Sussex Member companies coming – so there’s loads of potential for making some new contacts!  You can check out who has signed up to come along here.

Why not join us? You could share your latest news, learn about potential joint working ventures or just have a chat with other like-minded folk. It's all very informal!
The event is free to our members, including all employees of member companies, but you will need to register here to guarantee your place.
*Not sure if your company is a member? Just search our online directory or get in touch.

The Maverick’s Guide to Funding your Startup
So, you’ve got an amazing idea for a digital startup that will take over the world.  Great. That’s the easy bit out of the way ... but how do you raise investment?

Jon gives his account of last week’s Wired Sussex Breakfast Workshop
Last week’s event was the second Freelancer Breakfast I’ve attended, and the first where I’ve had the privilege of being part of the panel. By-and-large I’m a fan of skill-sharing events such as these, but I think for freelancers they’re more important; vital, even.

Latest fixed-term work & project opportunities
A significant benefit of Wired Sussex membership is getting to hear about the latest fixed-term and project work opportunities within the sector, either by networking with other members or by accessing our exclusive projects board.
Anyone from local boutiques to multinational agencies can post project details on the board so the projects range greatly, with everything from product photography to e-Commerce platforms builds. However, what they all have in common is a need for help from digital and media experts. To access the details of each project you must be a Wired Sussex member.

Here’s a couple of the latest:

Don’t forget you can add your own Project to our board free of charge!
Whether you need an agency to design and develop a website, a freelancer to work on a short term project, or even a business partner for a new venture?  We can help so get in touch!
