The Digital Roundup
A lot of great member news this month, and the first shout out goes to Ithaca Audio who won a 2017 Music + Sound Award for the ‘Best Re-Record or Adaptation’! They remixed Minnie Riperton’s ‘Lovin’ You’ using sound effects and dialog from Star Trek, as part of the SyfyUK Star Trek 50th Anniversary celebrations.
Artillery created some amazing animations and graphics for a lovely film tribute to surf pioneer Jack O’Neill!
Good to see iCrossingMan Bites Dog and Oban International being recognised for their work; they were nominated for The Masters of Marketing Awards.
We saw a fantastic new project by Tilt called ‘Bungaroosh’ that takes a closer look at the extraordinary people that inhabit Brighton.
A big shout out and thanks to Bryan Kidd for designing the logo for our new Open Studios: Talent Week. We love it!
Congratulations to; they were recently recognised as the best ‘Online Business in South East England’!

Two interesting documentaries by Lambent Productions, ‘Addicted Parents: Last Chance to Keep My Children’ and ‘When Football Banned Women’, aired on BBC Two and Channel 4 respectively!
Founder of RMV Productions, Peter Reeve was interviewed about the studio’s work with Ed Sheeran and the evolution of their projects.
Cobb Digital have been shortlisted for ‘Best Agency Culture’ at the UK Agency Awards, alongside SiteVisibility who are up for ‘Most Impressive Small Agency Growth’. Nice one!
A remarkable success for Elucidat; their eLearning platform has helped BDO Norway increase learner satisfaction to 90%!
Congrats to Makemedia’s sister company Make Real whose VR game, Loco Dojo, won the Indie Showcase award at Develop:Brighton.
Exciting news from Magenta; they’ll be handling PR, communications and the official UK launch for a transformative concierge service Bringme! They also wrote a great blog about their experience following our recent ‘Building an authentic brand’ Breakfast Session.
We’re loving these paper-like animations created by Buff Motion for miDrive’s Anytime app!
Good times for Gene Commerce; they’re up for three eCommerce Awards for Excellence, including ‘Best Agency’. They’re also Wirehive 100 finalists along with PragmaticFresh Egg and Major Digital. Good luck to you all!

Brighton ranks high in new UK Tech Innovation Index
According to the official Tech Innovation Index, Brighton is amongst the leading innovative cities in the UK, outperforming Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol and Birmingham. The index shows Brighton is 4th in data innovation, 5th across all tech sectors measured and 6th in Virtual Reality innovation out of the UK cities studied.

5G: the technology revolution
Did you know our innovation hub The FuseBox will be home to the UK’s first non-university 5G testbed? The testbed will give members an opportunity to test apps, games and other products on the incredibly fast, always-on wireless, mobile technology before its UK roll-out in 2020.

Following on from our recent event ‘An Introduction to 5G and the 5G testbed’, we’re hosting a series of workshops exploring the impact and abilities of this revolutionary 5G technology.

Exploring the technical aspects of 5G

We partner with Martin Searle Solicitors and Madgex to deliver bi-monthly meet ups to share expert advice and discuss the legislative issues and challenges in HR with our peers in digital businesses.

Next month we’ll be discussing best practice in recruitment, identifying role requirements, writing job descriptions and person specifications, selection and assessment methods, and the Equal Opportunities and Equality Act 2010.

Recently we got invited to Milan for Artlab - an event exploring policy making within the creative industries - to speak about The FuseBox and Brighton’s digital growth.
