The Digital Roundup
It was fantastic to see Brandwatch featured in The Telegraph, for developing a clever way of tracking the nation's sentiments towards the upcoming World Cup. 
Great to hear that many of our members have been busy winning awards; Epic and City & Guilds Kineo cleared up at the recent Elearning Awards,  Man Bites Dog won a B2B Marketing Award for their ‘Putting Prosperity On The Map’ campaign, whilst Kanoti and Plug-In Media have both been nominated for the interactive media iKids Awards.
Big developments from Ocasta Studios who have launched a new web service 'Needz' to take on Gumtree and Craigslist.
A belated happy birthday to Create.net who turned twelve recently and just passed their tenth thousandth customer mark!
Congratulations to David Amor, from Picnic Games, who’s ‘Save Exeter St Hall’ Campaign just won an ITV phone vote to bag £50,000 funding!
Exciting times for Developing Dreams and FuseBox residents 3Dify, who were invited on the BBC Click show for a discussion about the future of 3D printing in light of their recent Brighton Digital Festival event. 
A salute to Red Design + who were asked to develop a new logo and flexible identity for the 21st Anniversary year of the London Jazz Festival.
Well done to Ithaca Audio who have been busy working on the new Mercedes-Benz ‘Sound with Power’ campaign!
Exciting times for iCrossing, who’ve landed two big new clients this month, after being appointed the digital marketing agency for both Debenhams and Visit Wales!
Finally, we are very pleased to report that Cogapp, one of our founding members, was selected by Vince Cable to join the new UKTI Creative Sector Taskforce!

As Christmas is traditionally a time of reflection, we thought we would look at some of our achievements in 2013. Check out what we did for you and with you in the past 12 months here (and if you are not a member, check out what you’re missing!).
 
 
Two new board members at Wired Sussex
We are stoked to let you all know that Juliet Tzabar of Plug-in Media and Jenni Lloyd of Nixon McInnes have joined our board of directors.
Talking about the appointments, the Chair of Wired Sussex and Cogapp MD, Alex Morrison said:

“Juliet Tzabar and Jenni Lloyd are two of the brightest entrepreneurs on the Brighton digital scene. We’re so pleased they are joining our board. With their addition, we now cover every aspect of digital media including broadcast, e-learning, e-commerce, gaming, search, social media, web development, apps and digital consultancy.”

Brighton Digital Festival - taking stock and moving forward
The Brighton Digital Festival 2013 manger Tom Bailey signs off with a quick look back over the highlights of the festival this year, and an overview of the current planning for 2014.
There's already a date for the diary; with the first Town Hall meeting scheduled for Tuesday 28th January.
 

Directors' Dinner Events
As part of our events programme, we now run small quarterly dinners for the owners, MDs and CEOs of Wired Sussex member companies.

These exclusive events offer you the opportunity to have a good meal with 10 -12 of your peers and discuss, in an open and collaborative atmosphere, your business and the opportunities and challenges of the sector locally.
 
The dinners take place in Brighton and are hosted by Alex Cowell, MD, MBA and Jason Woodford, CEO, Site Visibility and Wired Sussex Board Member.

New England House Christmas Open Studios
12-14th Dec, 12pm - 8pm at The FuseBox, Brighton.
This week we’re excited to be involved in the NEH Christmas Open Studios. We are loaning use of The FuseBox to 10 exhibitors from around New England House, so they have a space to showcase their work.
We’ll have 3D scanner and printer project 3Dify creating mini-me models (be sure to book in advance to secure a slot!); Exploring Senses 'Toys ARRRRGH! Us' workshops; and a host of other artists, jewellery makers, sculptors and illustrators!

Funding opportunities for digital businesses
Another benefit of Wired Sussex membership is getting to hear about the latest funding opportunities within the sector, either by networking with other members or through our regular funding letter.- N.B. if you haven’t already you can sign up to receive our funding letter via your WS account page!

Here are a couple of the latest:

Hyperlocal Media Competition -  total fund of £2.5m for collaborative research and development, to help enabling technologies, platforms and services which build up the businesses of the future. Closes: 18th December (1st stage application)

Business Growth Grants –  designed to support small and medium companies with high growth and high innovation potential that are looking to expand and create new jobs.
 £5,000 - £100,000 available.
 
Creative Skill Set – are running a number of training funds aimed at freelancers working in or returning to work for the TV, film and audio industries. £800 - £1500 available.
