Tech Beyond The Screen: UX & Design for Connected Products
17th February, 6:00pm - 8:30pm, at The FuseBox
Tech Beyond the Screen is a series of events exploring the opportunities and challenges as digital technology moves beyond screen-based devices and becomes fully embedded in the real world.

This event will look at how we design great user experiences for people engaging with real world, ‘smart’ technologies, what we can learn from existing best practice, and what we need to invent.

If you’re interested in UX and digital design, then come and hear from our panel of experts: Jason Mesut, Founder of Resonant Design and Innovation Ltd, who leads teams to develop progressive products and services with an experiential focus; Ben Sauer, Senior UX designer at Clearleft; who help businesses make more effective digital products; and Dr Marianna Obrist, who leads the Sussex Computer Human Interaction SCHI Lab; a research group that explores multisensory experiences.

Following the talks Ben Sauer will lead a workshop where you’ll have the opportunity to brainstorm and get some hands-on experience with a range IoT products.
The event is free to attend, but tickets are going fast, sign-up now to avoid disappointment.

Tech Beyond the Screen: Connectivity & Infrastructure
2nd March, 6.00pm – 9.00pm, at The FuseBox
In this event we’re exploring the next wave technologies and infrastructures needed to help deliver these innovations; such as IoT networks, 5G connectivity and beacons.

In particular, we will be discussing bringing the ThingsNetwork - a global, open, decentralised and free internet of things network – to Brighton and what this could enable.  We will be joined by Julian Tait a speaker (and instigator!) from ThingsNetwork. If you are interested in local, ground-up technical solutions, come along and join the discussion. You can register for a free ticket here

We're putting together a brief for our new website
To help make sure we get it right, we have talked with our members and listened to your suggestions about what you would like to see from a new Wired Sussex website.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, by participating in our online surveys, one-to-one meetings or workshop discussion. Your comments and ideas will inform the backbone of the brief. You can take a look at the findings and what was discussed here.

An introduction to Blockchain
22nd February, 5.30pm- 8.30pm, at The FuseBox

Our first meetup will introduce you to the world of blockchain, with specific talks from the likes of Anthony Culligan (SETL),  Andrei Baloiu (RS Components/Slock.it) and Hugh Halford- Thompson (Blockchain Tech Ltd), including demos around finance, IoT and provenance.
