Great news from West Pier Studio who’re expanding after landing a big contract with Eurotalk to apply their gaming expertise to the world of language learning and will be creating a cross- platform product: uTalk.

We're looking for someone to rebuild our website - perhaps that's you? 
We’re really pleased to announce that after years of piecemeal improvements we’re finally in a position to rebuild the Wired Sussex website from the ground up.

After a period of consultation with members we have put together a brief that reflects not only our own needs, but those of the community we support.

We are really excited to have this opportunity to completely overhaul our website and build something that we hope will best serve you and the community and, above all else, do proper justice in showcasing the region’s extraordinary digital cluster!

Do you build products that might benefit the elderly?
Friday 16th September, 9am - 6pm, at The FuseBox
Following our recent ‘Tech Beyond The Screen’ event looking at Positive Ageing  we have partnered with IOTUK to run an intensive workshop event to explore the future of care home provision.

The event will bring together a number of representatives from the care industry to discuss the challenges they face; enabling digital companies to consider what kind of opportunities are out there and begin to workshop solutions they may be able to offer.

In the words of InnovateUK’s Jackie Marshall-Cyrus, “There is a huge role for innovation in addressing the demographic shift and creating national and global market opportunities”. 

Following the event there will be an opportunity for participants to receive ongoing support from Digital Catapult Centre Brighton to develop new products and services based on the insights gained from the day.

Creative, Digital & IT Open Studios Week
Monday 5th – Friday 9th September
From 5 - 9 September, as part of Brighton Digital Festival, Wired Sussex members will be opening their doors as part of CDIT Open Studios Week .  

Taking part by running your own event gives you a fantastic opportunity to raise your company profile within the community, showcase what you do, share ideas with peers, attract talent and much more… 

Participating companies will be inviting peers, students, graduates and job seekers into their studios and offices throughout the week for a series of talks, workshops, seminars, informal networking, lunchtime bbq’s and beers.

Inspiration, knowledge and guidance to kick start your day.

These fortnightly events share best practice on subjects ranging from marketing and branding to intellectual property and investment opportunities. And there’s coffee and croissants too. What’s not to like?

Thursday 21st July, 9am - 11am, at The FuseBox
A brand is more than just a logo, it’s your business’ personality and it colours how your clients and customers respond to you. Whatever the size of your business, the guests at this session will offer valuable ideas, insights and answers to help you to develop a strong and meaningful brand. 
 
We'll be joined by Anna Fisher and Jamie Colonna from Advantage, a creative brand and communications consultancy, plus Martine Warburton who’s the creative director of Puree Design.

What can you learn from your community?
Thursday 21st July, 9am - 11am, at The FuseBox
Do you want to develop an informed and responsive marketing strategy using social media, data and listening tools to discover what your community is saying? This session will explore the techniques you can use to generate data and insight into your community – helping you to listen, understand and respond effectively. 

We'll be joined by Dr. Peter Passaro, a data scientist developing tools to gain deep insight into local communities, and Stefan Hull, Development Director at Propellernet; an expert in helping clients to generate data and information which can lead to real insights.

Last month we held a breakfast session on ‘Reaching and Growing your Audience’, where a panel of experts from SiteVisibility and Pure360 answered questions and shared their knowledge about the strategies you can implement to help grow your business; using a blend of effective content marketing, paid advertisement, video content and SEO.

We’re running a new series of quarterly events in partnership with Plus Accounting, aimed at helping employees at member companies responsible for managing the finances.

The ‘Digital, Media & Tech Business Finance Forum’ provides a friendly environment where you can discuss any financial challenges you face, share advice with peers and seek answers to questions you may have relating to your current financial position and future financing goals.

So, if you’re looking to better understand the financial performance of your company or develop strategies to effectively manage cash flows and capital equity do join us.

Latest short-term work & project opportunities
A significant benefit of Wired Sussex membership is getting to hear about the latest fixed-term and project work opportunities within the sector, either by networking with other members or by accessing our exclusive projects board.

Anyone - from local boutiques to multinational agencies - can post project details on the board, so the projects are really diverse, with everything from product photography to e-Commerce platforms builds. What they all have in common is a need for digital and media experts. To access the details of each project you must be a Wired Sussex member.
