Digital Catapult Centre Brighton: News & Events
With the new Digital Catapult Centre opening in Brighton soon, we have organised a series of taster events to help you understand what it does and how it might benefit you and your business. We kick off with an overview, which has moved to a larger venue (the Old Market) due to demand.

Introducing the Digital Catapult Centre Brighton and the Internet of Place   - Wednesday 10th June, 6.00pm at the Old Market, Hove

This event is an opportunity to hear from some of Brighton’s Catapult partners: Gatwick Airport, Brandwatch, University of Brighton and Wired Sussex. We’ll be giving an overview of what the Catapult is for and how your business can work with it and its partner organisations, and what the Brighton Catapult’s theme ‘the Internet of Place’ is all about.

The event is free, but places are limited, so please register now to avoid disappointment.

Food for thought at our Breakfast Workshop
Our breakfast workshops are free to members and are designed to be practical, focused guides to improving your business. Last week we held a ‘Breakfast Workshop’ on Becoming a Successful Freelancer.

The workshop was led by a panel of experts: Dan Young (Shed Research Consulting), Kate Saker and Richard Nash (Mr. Biscuit) who answered questions and shared their knowledge and advice.

Spaces at these events are always in hot demand and we wanted to share as much of the conversation as possible, so here is a full breakdown of the event highlighting the key discussion points and takeaways.


Creative, Digital & IT Open Studios 2015
CDIT Open Studios week offers Wired Sussex member companies a chance to run events at their offices as part of Brighton Digital Festival. The week is a fantastic opportunity to raise your company profile within the community, showcase what you do, share ideas with peers, attract talent and much more… 

Whether you’re a small agency, just starting out or a large well established organisation, we’d love you to be involved. If you are interested in finding out more about this year’s CDIT Open Studios week, or if you would like to take part, you should check out this blog post, or why not come along to one of our drop-in advice sessions.

The KTN Breakfast: Innovate funding tips

Wired Sussex has organised a breakfast event with the Knowledge Transfer Network, part of the UK’s Innovation agency: Innovate UK. If you are interested in learning how to increase your chances of accessing funding from Innovate UK, this event will help. Over a bacon butty and some damn fine coffee, KTN will provide you with some tips and a toolset to help you make successful grant funding bids. Latest short-term work & project opportunities
A significant benefit of Wired Sussex membership is getting to hear about the latest fixed-term and project work opportunities within the sector, either by networking with other members or by accessing our exclusive projects board.

Anyone - from local boutiques to multinational agencies - can post project details on the board so the projects range greatly, with everything from product photography to e-Commerce platforms builds. However, what they all have in common is a need for digital and media experts. To access the details of each project you must be a Wired Sussex member.

Here’s a couple of the latest: Don’t forget you can add your own Project to our board free of charge!

Sales Director - The Student Room Group

The Student Room Groups are hiring a Sales Director who will be a key member of the company’s Management Team, which is responsible for delivering the company plan.

The primary responsibility is to achieve (and of course where possible exceed!) the company’s B2B sales targets. They will be responsible for leading the definition of those targets, owning delivery & be responsible for creating the sales strategy.
