The Digital Roundup
The first shout-out this month goes to Ocasta who have been chosen to join the 2018 BMW Innovation Lab after showcasing their multi-award winning app, Oplift!
Congratulations to LEO Learning; they were recognised as one of the learning providers of the year at the Learning & Performance Institute Awards.
What is creativity? Buff Motion joined forces with Kingston School of Art alumni and the university’s brand design agency to explore the idea.
It’s been a very musical month for our members; RMV Productions worked on a series of animations and videos for none other than Def Leppard, Curate Labs redesigned the site and logo for Brighton Electric Studio, increasing their website traffic by 92%, and CMP Studios’ went on a 12-week adventure to record ‘Live from The Roadee’ for Latest TV, showcasing Brighton’s musical talent.
Great success story from Elucidat; their authoring platform has helped global grassroots movement 350 in their fight against climate change.
High-five to Zazara Consulting, Meta One and Accessible Design who all launched new websites recently!
Huge news from Gamer Network; the media giant has been acquired by American events company ReedPOP.
Exciting times for MakerClub; they just launched #BrightFutures, a 12-month campaign to start a city-wide conversation around ‘future skills’. Plus, they opened their first permanent workshop space, for making and inventing, in Brighton.
It’s a big win for NeoNodal; the communication consultancy have added energy experts BHESCo to their client roster.
And finally, we recently welcomed Mia to the Wired Sussex team, who has joined as our new Member Services Assistant!

Talent2018: get involved
5th-7th June, various venues across Brighton
Over three days in June, we’ll be holding Talent2018; a skills festival for the digital sector, aimed at helping businesses attract, train and retain talent.
If you would like to showcase your company to great talent, build your reputation as an outstanding employer, and help support the future of our sector, get involved with Talent2018, either through sponsorship or by participating as an exhibitor. Aligning with the festival will give you a unique opportunity to access new audiences and build relationships with the City’s most influential digital businesses, educational institutes, and community groups.

Funding New Products & Services: Accessing R + D tax credits
Tuesday 27th March, 9-11am at The FuseBox
Do you or your company spend money researching and developing new products, processes or services, or enhance existing ones? At our next Breakfast Session, we will hear from local businesses who have benefitted from Research and Development Tax Credits; a Government-funded scheme designed to encourage innovation by allowing you to reclaim money invested in R + D.
Hear how Peter Maddalena (Director of VRCraftworks) and Matt Thompsett (CEO of Green Lemon Company) benefited from R + D tax credits and get advice from experts on how you could too. Come along!

Monday 19th March, 12-5pm beginning at The FuseBox
Informatics at Sussex has a long record of excellence in computing, teaching and research. We’ll be taking a trip to the department to find out about the work they do and demo some of the current projects they’re working on.

Ricardo workshop
Friday 20th April, 9am-1pm at The FuseBox
The Innovation Team from global automotive R+D giant Ricardo will be hosting a workshop looking at the future of automotive design.

Learn how to build your own Blockchain Applications
Monday 19th March, 5:45-9:15pm at The FuseBox
The prolific rise of cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, has increased awareness of their underlying technology – Blockchain. Many more applications besides currency can be developed to harness the technology – distributed cloud storage, digital identity, smart contracts and digital voting, for example – yet very little information exists on how to build blockchain-based applications.

Interested in quantum computing?
Recently, we held a weird and wonderful event exploring quantum computing and the possibilities this game-changing tech provides. At the event, Sebastian Weidt, a senior scientist in the Ion Quantum Technology Group at the University of Sussex, demystified the inner workings of the technology and shared his experience building one of the world’s only large-scale quantum computers.
