Winning the Digital Catapult Centre for Brighton! - What's the Story?
Last week the Minister for the Digital Economy, Ed Vaizey, announced that Brighton is to host one of three regional Digital Catapults with Wired Sussex as one of the key delivery partners. It is a bid that we worked on together with Coast to Capital LEP, the local universities and a wide range of our Brighton-based digital businesses and start-ups.

We are really excited to add the Centre to our portfolio of spaces – alongside The FuseBox and Brighton Digital Exchange- that we manage in order to support those working in the digital sector in Sussex.

You can find out more about the catapult and our other projects and how you might get involved here.

Our Big Xmas Meetup
Brighton Members Meetup, Tuesday 2nd Dec, Above Audio.
We’d like to invite all our members to our last event of 2014, to share some festive cheer at the Christmas Members Meetup.

If you've not been before they offer a great opportunity to network with others working in the digital, media and technology sector. So why not come along and share your latest news, learn about potential joint working opportunities or just have a chat with other like-minded folk. It's all pretty informal!

Also, seeing as it's almost Christmas there will be seasonal tunes, festive decorations and dodgy jumpers a plenty! And we ho-ho-hope you get in the spirit of things and come to celebrate what has been a truly fantastic year for the digital cluster here in Brighton!

The event is free to our members and all employees of member companies, but be sure to register now for a ticket so you don’t miss out.

Helping businesses access the best new talent - and even paying towards the costs!
We are running an Intern Placement Programme which connects companies with the best new talent in the sector.

The aim of the scheme is to help you find the best new junior talent for your organisation and we’ve worked hard to make the scheme as simple and straightforward for you as possible, by handling the advertising, short-listing, contracting and payments for the duration of the placement.

Not only is the service free, but we’re also contributing 60% towards the cost of paying the intern for the first 6 weeks!

Interested in the scheme for your business? You can find more information on the website and do get in touch if you’ve any questions.

The FuseBox: looking back over the past year
The FuseBox is a studio and collaboration space that we inhabit in central Brighton, which has has been open over a year now. It was primarily created to host and provide assistance to start-ups from the creative, digital and tech sector. Between running business support space and programmes; The FuseBox Amp and FuseBox24, the space has been used as a venue for a range of events from workshops to hackathons..

In the past year and a half since our launch in Spring 2013, we’ve seen an array of amazing events take place in the space. Here’s a quick run through of some of the highlights over the past year and a little recap about what we are doing and why.

A guide to office and coworking spaces
At Wired Sussex we often hear from members who’re struggling to find decent office or shared working space in Brighton; whether they are companies looking to expand or freelancers keen to get out of the house (or coffee shop!) and work alongside others in a shared space.

We recognise there’s a real shortage of these spaces around the city and it can be hard to know exactly where to look to find them. So, we thought we'd take a moment to give you a quick run through of some the ways we’ve been working to help address this problem.

Latest short-term work & project opportunities
A significant benefit of Wired Sussex membership is getting to hear about the latest fixed-term and project work opportunities within the sector, either by networking with other members or by accessing our exclusive projects board.

Anyone - from local boutiques to multinational agencies - can post project details on the board so the projects range greatly, with everything from product photography to e-Commerce platforms builds. However, what they all have in common is a need for help from digital and media experts. To access the details of each project you must be a Wired Sussex member.

Here’s a couple of the latest: Don’t forget you can add your own Project to our board free of charge!

Whether you need an agency to design and develop a website, a freelancer to work on a short term project, or even a business partner for a new venture?  We can help so get in touch!
