Celebrating 10 years with our members!
Last Friday we hosted a special event to celebrate 10 years of an independent Wired Sussex. We want to say a huge thank you to all our members for making the past decade possible and an extra special thanks to our event sponsors (Vestd, Brighton Gin, Cogapp, Plug-in Media, iCrossing, Curve IT, Quick HR, Plus Accounting, Madgex) and everyone else who helped bring the Big Birthday Bash together.

Today is Ada Lovelace Day, an international celebration of the wonderful women in science, technology, engineering and maths, and their achievements. With so many great events and initiatives that support and encourage women in STEM, we thought we’d highlight a few to check out!
- Donna Haraway: Storytelling for Earthly Survival
A film about scholar Donna Haraway’s work in science, tech, gender and trans-species relationships, followed by a discussion led by the Sussex Humanities Lab – 12th October, 6-8pm.
- Inclusivity Isn't Scary: Brighton Digital Women Halloween Party Special
An evening of talks on what it means to be inclusive in digital – 30th October, 6:30-8:30pm.
- Codebar Brighton
Free programming workshops providing a safe and collaborative environment for underrepresented people in tech – every Tuesday, 6:30pm.
- What Women Want 2.0
Run by a voluntary group, What Women Want are encouraging women to stand up for a better, more equal, future by simply filling out a survey which will then be presented to leaders and politicians, so have your say.
- Other brilliant local groups supporting diversity in tech include: SheSays, Spring Forward, Brighton Digital Women and Wildfire Women.
Immersive Lab and funding for VR/AR creatives
We’re excited to announce the launch of an Immersive Lab at our innovation hub The FuseBox which will give start-ups, creatives and companies access to cutting-edge virtual and augmented reality hardware, high-end VR-ready PCs and smartphones, VR headsets, motion capture suits and depth sensors. If you’re developing VR/AR content, products and services, this is a great opportunity to experiment and demo ideas to clients.
