CIM Award winner - Best Use of Digital Marketing for an SME[16th April 2019] No Pork Pies have won the Best Use of Digital Marketing – SME at the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards. The London-based performance-marketing consultancy, which were shortlisted for two awards at the UK Search Awards in November, have gone one step further at the CIM Awards and won the award for Best Use of Digital Marketing for an SME.

CIM’s Marketing Excellence Awards are an annual event created to highlight, celebrate and promote excellence within the field of marketing. They provide individuals, teams and agencies from across the marketing industry with the opportunity to showcase their successes and the impact of their campaigns. The Awards are open to any organisation within the UK regardless of size, sector or industry.
The Awards night took place on the 11 April 2019. This was their tenth year.

No Pork Pies have won for the prestigious award on the back of a hugely successful campaign for GEM Motoring Assist. The campaign increased revenue and attract attention from new customers. Although GEM Motoring Assist Breakdown Cover has been established for the last three decades, it was not as well known as some of its leading competitors, and No Pork Pies was keen to change this. The primary objective was to increase the number of clients signing up for breakdown cover via the company website. Subscription figures had been static, and the goal was to freshen up the campaign to raise the online profile of the firm, improve conversion rates and increase revenue.

To facilitate improvement, No Pork Pies adopted a new approach to SEO, which focused on achieving long-term objectives by enhancing user experience, smoothing out technical issues and providing clients with optimum-quality content. No Pork Pies has been working with GEM Motoring Assist for several years, and Managing Director, Adam Lee, believes the relationship holds the key to success. Speaking about the campaign, Adam said, “No Pork Pies and GEM have worked closely together for the last seven years. This close relationship is a huge factor in the success of this campaign. With the belief and trust from GEM, we were able to run a continuous testing process to identify areas of success and reduce areas of wastage, as well as come up with new ideas and ways to integrate their digital marketing campaigns. The results in the process clearly show how successful this approach can be and we are really pleased this work has been recognised through our award win at the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards.”

The GEM Motoring Assist campaign generated incredibly impressive results, and the CIM Awards panel has now cemented the achievements of No Pork Pies. Within six months of the launch, overall revenue increased by 145%, with a 64% year on year improvement, marking a ten-year revenue high for the company. Year on year PPC revenue was up 566% and ROAS (Return on Advertising Spend) rose from £2.70 to £5.20 per £1 spent in 6 months. SEO revenue increased by 197% with a 38% year on year increase, and the conversion rate for all channels improved by 133%.

Paula Williams, chief executive of GEM Motoring Assist, said, “The changes No Pork Pies have helped us make on our website have proven to be extremely successful across our business objectives, for search and marketing in general. Their on-going activity within SEO, PPC and conversion optimisation have helped us achieve an incredible year on year improvement and positioned our revenue at a ten-year high. I’m sure, with No Pork Pies, this trend will continue.”
