Rachael Dines, Marketing DirectorRachael Dines, Co-Founder of Shake It Up Creative based in Worthing, is one of twenty trainers who will deliver digital know-how to 10,000 small businesses over the next 12 months including businesses in Sussex.

Her work will be part of small business support group Enterprise Nation’s Go and Grow Online campaign which is being run in conjunction with Microsoft, Curry’s PC World Business and Verisign, and which launches today, Wednesday, October 11.

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), despite a dramatic increase in the number of consumers buying products and services online, Britain’s smallest firms – those with nine or fewer employees – are not feeling the benefit.

While online sales increased 21 per cent in December 2016 alone, sky rocketing Britain’s e-commerce economy to £130bn*, just 9.7 per cent of all sales from UK-based micro firms were e-commerce transactions, compared with almost 56 per cent of sales from larger firms.

Rachael, also a Chartered Marketer, said: “Companies in Sussex could definitely be selling more online, but they are so busy working in the business, they often feel like they don’t have the time to learn how to make the most of the internet and digital marketing.

“I’m really happy to have been selected to deliver the Go and Grow Online campaign in this area, so that I can meet small businesses and help them make a real difference to their bottom line. I’ll be talking to Sussex business owners about establishing an online presence, using online tools and making sure that they can start to feel more confident and get better at bringing in more business online.

“Even if you’re running a hair salon or the local cafe, being online is important to raise awareness, communicate to potential customers and help you sell more efficiently to more people.”

Emma Jones, founder of Enterprise Nation, said: “Big firms have the resources to invest in the latest digital e-commerce and m-commerce functionality, SEO, marketing, and everything in between. Smaller firms have been slower on the uptake over the years, and seem to have less appetite for it. They are busy simply running the business and don’t always see the benefits that digital can deliver.

“And yet the digital world is an area that they absolutely can compete with larger firms on. Rachael will be one of the people delivering the know-how where it’s needed and provide the on-the-ground assistance that Sussex businesses need.”

Rachael’s first session is set to be held on Tuesday 16th January 2018 at 6pm, the venue is to be confirmed. For booking details keep an eye on www.facebook.com/ShakeItUpCreative or www.enterprisenation.com/goandgrow

Over the course of 12 months, the campaign will reach 10,000 businesses across the UK, with practical training, essential resources, and connections to fellow business owners.
