Wanted: Industry experience opportunities for Sussex MA Digital Media / Cultural and Creative Industries Students

The School of Media, Film and Music at the University of Sussex are currently looking for Wired Sussex members who might be interested in offering Digital Media / Cultural and Creative Industries MA students short-term industry experience in and around Sussex and London. Students on our diverse MA programmes are given the opportunity to undertake short-term industry projects as their final assignment in their studies, and we warmly welcome experience opportunities that any Wired Sussex members might be able to offer.

Student’s industry projects need to have a connection to digital media or the creative industries and contain specific tasks or projects over which the student can have some ownership. These can be team work or collaborative and it is the student’s rather than the employee’s responsibility to make it clear to the University the extent of the responsibilities. We are looking for projects to be carried out between April and the end of August, but there can be flexibility on this. The work placement needs to be for a minimum of 2 days a week over 6 weeks, or full time over a 3 week period - there is no maximum limit for projects but consideration of the additional work required by the programme must be given. The School of Media, Film and Music has a number of Industry partners - http://www.sussex.ac.uk/media/industrylinks - and has successfully collaborated in the past with a number of small, medium and large organisations to produce industry-focused projects that benefit both employers and students.

The student will need to provide us with a work placement diary, supporting materials that demonstrate the kind of work undertaken, and a critical essay that examines one aspect of working with digital media or the creative industries in relation to the academic literature in this area. We are happy to provide any supporting documentation and references for the student as required and we very much appreciate any interest or participation any companies might offer. If you are interested in taking on a student for an industry experience project please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Any queries most welcome.

Best wishes
